Live at Atelier Lyrique de Dordogne
Chilean-American tenor José Miguel performs Carlos Gardel and Alfredo Le Pera’s “El día que me quieras,” accompanied by Australian pianist and conductor Lochlan Brown.
The performance was presented during Some Enchanted Evening, the sold-out public concert of the inaugural Atelier Lyrique de Dordogne, on July 23, 2025. Held at the historic Château de la Meyfrenie in Verteillac, Dordogne, the concert brought together international artists for an evening of musical theater, cabaret, jazz, and song.
By including this celebrated Latin American tango canción in the program, José Miguel continued his commitment to bringing Hispanic and Spanish-language repertoire to classical audiences and international stages.

Cinco canciones populares argentinas | Live at Tunghai University
During his 2026 Asia tour, Chilean-American tenor José Miguel Santelices presented a solo vocal recital at Tunghai University in Taichung, Taiwan. In this performance, he joins collaborative pianist Ying-Ting Hong for Alberto Ginastera’s “Cinco canciones populares argentinas,” Op. 10.
Composed in 1943, the cycle explores five distinctive Argentine musical traditions through “Chacarera,” “Triste,” “Zamba,” “Arrorró,” and “Gato.” Together, the songs move between rhythmic vitality, tenderness, melancholy, and theatrical folk character.
The recital concluded José Miguel’s two-day residency at the Tunghai University Department of Music, which also included a lecture on Spanish and Latin American art song and a vocal masterclass. The engagement reflected his continuing commitment to advancing Hispanic and Latin American repertoire through international performance, education, and cultural exchange.

Amarte es algo especial | Live at the Meadows Museum
On April 9, 2026, Chilean-American tenor José Miguel Santelices performed in Voces y Colores: An Evening of Hispanic Art and Song at the Meadows Museum in Dallas. In this selection, he joins pianist Astrid Morales Torres and cellist Camila Urquiza-Hernández for contemporary Mexican-American composer Edna Alejandra Longoria’s “Amarte es algo especial.”
Set to an anonymous Spanish text, the art song presents love as an act of generosity—offering one’s time, opening one’s heart, and giving another person the freedom to grow. Longoria’s intimate vocal writing and lyrical musical language place the work within the evolving tradition of contemporary Hispanic art song.
Voces y Colores brought together an all-Hispanic cast for a program of Spanish-language vocal and instrumental music inspired by the museum’s collection. Presented in collaboration with the Santelices Foundation and the SMU Meadows School of the Arts Division of Music, the evening marked the Foundation’s first anniversary and reflected José Miguel’s continuing commitment to advancing Hispanic and Latin American repertoire.
